ABOUT EDWARD PETER MAHONEY

Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1946, Ed was raised on Long Island in Mineola, New York, not far from Levittown, America’s first large-scale suburban development where World War II vets like his father settled down after the war to buy a house on the GI Bill and raise a family.

Ed was admitted to St. Francis Hospital and Sanatorium in Roslyn, New York, in 1951. Only five years old, he was bedridden for two years with rheumatic fever. His illness was so severe, he was given “Last Rites” twice. Those traumatic events shaped his life, bestowing upon him a heightened appreciation for the gift of life and a sensitivity toward God and the needs of others.

He attended Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and Economics in 1970.

From 1973 to 1999 he chased the American Dream on Wall Street. In between he married and raised a family in a suburb of New York City. For a brief time he pursued politics, becoming a Town Supervisor. In 1999, he began to repsond with sincerity to the "NUDGE" of the Holy Spirit.

Still very active in retirement serving God, he was encouraged to tell his stories about his journey.
